about Cade Roberts
Praised for his “sensitive, musical, and incredibly intelligent” playing, American pianist Cade Roberts is particularly well-known for his interpretations of Viennese and Nordic composers in solo, chamber music, and Lied settings. He has performed across the United States and Europe including venues such as Carnegie Hall, Pärnu Concert Hall, DiMenna Center for Classical Music, and Mozarteum Solitär. Prior concert appearances have included the Orchestra of St. Luke’s Young Artists Series, Lindeblad School of Music Artist Series, Peekskill Concerts at Noon Recital Series, MSM Chamber Music Festival, MSM Bach Festival, Gijón International Piano Festival, and the Mozarteum International Summer Academy. Cade Roberts has also collaborated with instrumentalists and singers in the past such as Timothy Tse, Clara Cho, Nathan Cox, Hafrún Birna Björnsdóttir, Laura Kießkalt, and Jonah Hoskins.
Born in La Jolla, California, Cade Roberts holds degrees in piano from the Manhattan School of Music and Brigham Young University and pursued additional studies at Mozarteum University. He studied piano with Marc Silverman, Claudius Tanski, Stephen Beus; harpsichord with Jocelyn Stewart; and Lied accompaniment with Thérèse Lindquist. In addition, Roberts has participated in masterclasses with Robert McDonald, José Ramón Mendez, Walter Fleischmann, Wolfgang Watzinger, Douglas Humphreys, Logan Skelton, Boris Berman, Roland Krüger, Tamás Ungár, and Wolfgang Brunner. He is a committed practitioner in the performance practice of historical improvisation and is an expert on the art of improvising Eingänge specifically in the music of W.A. Mozart. He has previously taught piano at the Bronx Conservatory of Music and the Marymount School of New York. He currently works as a member of the rehearsal department at the Metropolitan Opera.
