about Cade Roberts

Hailed by critics as “sensitive, musical, and incredibly intelligent,” American pianist Cade Roberts has performed across Austria, Estonia, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, and the United States in venues including Carnegie Hall, Pärnu Concert Hall, DiMenna Center for Classical Music, and Mozarteum Solitär. Recent festival appearances include the Gijón International Piano Festival, Orchestra of St. Luke’s Young Artists Series, MSM Chamber and Bach Festivals, Mozarteum Summer Academy, mdw International Summer Academy, and Euro Arts Music Festival & Academy.

As a performer, Cade Roberts divides his artistic attention between three genres of classical repertoire – solo piano, chamber music, and art song (Lied). Former chamber music and Lied collaborators have included Clara Cho, Jonah Murphy, Timothy Tse, Laura Kießkalt, Jonah Hoskins, Nathan Cox, Elizabeth Cox, and Hafrún Birna Björnsdóttir. Alongside traditional classical repertoire, Roberts advocates for music by Estonian composers and has given premieres of works by Veljo Tormis, Alisson Kruusmaa, and Jonas Tarm.

Born in La Jolla, California, Roberts holds piano degrees from the Manhattan School of Music and Brigham Young University, where he studied with Marc Silverman and Stephen Beus, with further studies at Mozarteum University under Claudius Tanski. He is very interested in historical improvisation and has been conducting academic research on the historical performance practice of the Eingang in 17th century music specifically in the music of W.A. Mozart. He has taught piano at the Bronx Conservatory of Music and the Marymount School of New York.
